Piper Aircraft was one of the first companies to design a business-oriented private plane. The PA-31 Navajo, their new 6-9 seat twin engine aircraft in 1967, signified Piper’s intent on capturing this emerging market and tested well with consumers. In 1976 they released an upgraded version called the Cheyenne II – which could carry 2 more passengers than its predecessor (up to 10) and also used newer engines equipped for up to 325hp that had 1 less cylinder (-2).
