In 1963, the Cessna 205 came onto the market. This airplane used a retractable 210 airframe and engine but eliminated the landing gear stowage from its rear cabin to provide for six-place seating with roomy reclining seats that accommodated everyone on board including those of reasonable weight! The 206 joined it in 1964 as well – dubbed Super Skywagon by enthusiasts. Then 1965 saw both P206s and U206s come out to offer various versions depending on need; presumably “P” stood for people while “U” denoted utility aircraft designations.
