Windhoek is located in the South African region of the Kalahari desert and is a beautiful city to visit. It is situated on the banks of the Khomasdal River and has many interesting places for tourists to visit such as museums, parks, art galleries, and much more.
The weather in Windhoek in summer is hot and dry with a little relief when the Southeaster blows. Temperatures can rise to just over 40 degrees Celcius. In winter it is wet with rainfall that often falls as thunderstorms or on occasions a cyclone from the Indian Ocean.
There are several airports you can fly into when arriving in Windhoek. The three primary airports that jets are allowed to land at include: Hosea Kutako International Airport and Sir Seretse Khama International Airport as well as Katima Mulilo International Airport. These are all international airports so jets can fly directly into them. If jets are flying into a smaller regional airport, they can rent the use of a hangar but cannot park in the regular terminals.
