Ghent is a city and municipality in the Flemish Region of Belgium and its capital city. It is located in the Flemish Diamond, where, along with Antwerp and Mechelen forms one of the three largest cities in Flanders. Ghent has long been an important city in the Low Countries, both economically and culturally.
