San Fernando is located in the southern region of Trinidad and Tobago. It is placed in the southwestern part of the country, close to Venezuela. Around 34, 000 people live there. San Fernando lies on the Gulf of Paria coast in the northeast part of Trinidad island.
The weather in San Fernando in summer is rainy and humid (the average air temperature is 28 C). In winter it’s dry, quite hot and sunny. The coolest month is September with an average temperature of 25C. The hottest February features an average temperature of 31C. December is the wettest month in San Fernando while August being the driest one because only 11 mm of rainfall is expected.
The city is today still an important transport hub offering daily flights to and from Caracas, private jets charter, and flights to Cumaná, Puerto La Cruz, and Valencia. The main airport in San Fernando is Granma International Airport (HAV) that has regular flights to Caracas. The second airport, Antonio Maceo Airport (HOG), has daily connections to Havana.
