Francistown is located in the center of Botswana about an hour’s drive from Gaborone, via the A10 highway. The capital is much bigger than Maun or Kasane and therefore offers more to do and see when you pass through this rapidly growing city.
The weather in Francistown in summer is very hot with temperatures reaching up to 38 degrees Celsius and it can be as cold as 5 degrees in the winter. The city is situated at an altitude of 1,150 meters above sea level so you should take into account that you will feel about 30% hotter than normal when visiting Francistown.
Although not the best-known city in Botswana, Francistown is still a thriving commercial hub that allows for quick travel throughout Central Africa. Located just north of the Tropic of Capricorn, there are numerous ways to get here from all over the world.
