Nicosia is located on the island of Cyprus and is the capital city. Being in close proximity to Greece, Israel has been invaded and occupied several times over its history. The island was previously a British colony until 1960 when it became an independent state. Nicosia is home to many official buildings including the presidential palace.
The weather in Nicosia in summer is warm and sunny with high temperatures averaging between 25-28 degrees Celsius. Winter months are much cooler and wetter and average around 15 degrees Celsius. Interestingly, the record for the hottest day in Nicosia is actually higher than many other places on the island because of its location in the city center.
