The iconic Boeing 747 is an aircraft that has a wide body and was the first of its kind. It can hold up to 653 passengers, more than any other commercial airliner in use today. Originally called “Jumbo Jet” or “Queen of the Skies” it had been nicknamed after its hump near the front end. The original version of this plane flew commercially for the very first time in 1970; before then many people were skeptical about how safe these planes could be since they were so big compared with all previous jets at only two-thirds their size!
